Lancaster’s Hometown Furniture Store Since 1938

In the 1920s, Cooper Furniture Company was a chain furniture store owned by the Cooper family. DeWitt Belk worked for the original Cooper family. DeWitt made the decision to buy the entire chain from the Coopers, which began a family tradition that continues to this day. In 1955, DeWitt Belk gave control of the business to his nephew, Kenneth DeWitt Belk and Kenneth’s wife, Bonita Belk. The family tradition continues to the present day with the Belk daughters, Kathy O’Brien and Deena Totherow. Kathy and Deena are proud to continue a nearly one hundred year tradition.
